Laser Damage to Human Eyes

The damage caused by laser to human eyes is mainly due to the fact that the laser energy is too high. After entering the human eye, it

will be focused to form a light spot with high energy density, causing retinal damage, which may lead to blindness in severe cases. Laser

damage is related to its wavelength, power, duration and other factors.

Eyes exposed to laser radiation may suffer from the following injuries:

                             1. Retinal burning: When the power density of the laser exceeds the endurance range of the retina, retinal burning will occur, causing retinal

tissue destruction. The degree of damage is related to the laser power, wavelength and duration.

                             2. Macula degeneration: The macula is a part of the retina and is mainly responsible for visual processing of central light. When the macula is

exposed to laser radiation, it may cause macular degeneration, leading to vision loss.

                             3. Lens opacity: The lens is a transparent tissue in the eye. When the laser passes through the cornea and iris and focuses on the lens, it may

cause lens opacity, resulting in blurred vision.

                             4. Corneal damage: The cornea is the outermost transparent tissue of the eye. When the laser intensity is high, it will cause burning and

ulceration of the corneal surface, and may even lead to blindness.

We need to take protective laser safety glasses to protect our eyes from damage caused by laser radiation. At the same time, when using laser

equipment, we also need to pay attention to parameters such as laser power, wavelength, and duration to avoid causing harm to people. Please
